Coleene McGlothlin

Coleene McGlothlin, 87, of Cody died on Jan. 9, 2016, in Cody with her family by her side.

She was born Coleene Lindstrom to Helmer and Pearl Lindstrom on Jan. 10, 1928, in Carlyle, Montana. Coleene was one of 10 children.

She attended Carlyle School House for her early education and attended high school in Wibaux. She told a story of teaching her fellow Wibaux students before her own high school graduation.

She met Jack McGlothlin while attending college in Missoula, Montana. They were soon married and moved to the Cody area shortly thereafter. Coleene wore many hats, including waitressing and working at Montgomery Ward and Sunset Grocers. She then took a break to finish her college education at Northwest College in Powell. Upon graduation, she took a position working for the City of Cody.

Coleene was an Auxillary member for the VFW and the Eagles. She was also a prominent member of the Rebekas, the Sage Creek Women’s Club and a volunteer for the Cody Cupboard. She also delivered countless meals on wheels.

She was a woman of many hobbies including dancing and singing, sewing, gardening, bird watching, and cake decorating. Coleene enjoyed all people and will remain loved by all her many family and friends.

Coleene was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jack, both parents, and her nine siblings.

She is survived by her three children Louise (Gary) Kelly, Joe (Becky) McGlothlin, and Betty (Dave) Hellyer; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will take place at a later date. Ballard Funeral Home has handled the cremation services.
