(April 22, 1938 - Dec. 25, 2015)

After an amazing week spent with his family, Alvin Keith Voyles died on Christmas Day. He was 77.

He was born at home April 22, 1938, in Lovell, the oldest son of Caroline Johnson Voyles Denny and Alvin “Billy” Voyles.

He grew up in the Big Horn Basin, mainly in Worland.

Keith graduated from Worland High School in 1956 and attended the University of Wyoming for one year.

He came back to Worland to work as a baker. On May 27, 1961, he married Doris Averett in Lovell, gaining a wife as well as a daughter. On March 4, 1962, they welcomed their first son, Alan.

After Alan was born, the little family moved to North Dakota. They welcomed Jeffrey on Sept. 19, 1963, and Gwendolyn on March 31, 1966.

After living in North Dakota for eight years, they moved back to Powell, where he worked for John Krause as a farmhand for eight years. In 1979 the family moved north of Cody to the Two Dot Ranch, where he worked until retirement in 2003. Most people in Cody knew him as Spike.

In 1985, they added Linda Thompson and her three children to the family. Linda was officially adopted in 1994.

After retirement, they moved into Cody to be close to their grandkids. Keith kept busy those first years with yard work, baking and cooking for his family. As his breathing grew worse he took up flute making, carving and beading. Anything he tried, he did well. He was so proud of the items he made.

Keith was preceded in death by his mother Caroline Denny, father Alvin “Billy” Voyles, stepfather Jim Denny, brother Marvin Voyles and son Alan Keith Voyles.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years Doris Voyles; daughters Linda Thompson and Debbie Voyles of Billings; son Jeff (Jan) Voyles of Cody; daughter Gwen (Scott) Allphin of Cody; grandchildren April Cody and Cory Franzen of Billings, Christian Allphin currently in North Carolina, Liz Allphin of Cody; two great-granddaughters and one great-grandson.

Memorial services will be at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center in Cody  at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31.
