Kenneth Dale Burgener, 70, died early Sunday morning, Dec. 20, 2015, at Powell Valley Healthcare.

Kenneth was born to Albert and Lottie Burgener Jan. 11, 1945, in Powell. He spent all his school days in Powell, graduating from Powell High School in 1963.

In 1968, Ken began a grand adventure in Fairbanks, Alaska, following his passions of hunting and fishing. Among the many wonderful experiences there, the most memorable one was meeting his bride, Valle Rose Young. They were married on Nov. 10, 1970.

Ken and Valle moved to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1972 where Ken worked for the Federal Aviation Administration until he retired in 2005.

Upon retirement, the couple returned to Ken’s boyhood home in Powell.

Ken is survived by his wife, Valle; a son, Lonnie; a daughter, Brandy; two sisters, Dorothy Larkin of Cody and Willa Mae Fleming of Powell; and one brother, Tom Burgener (Carolyn) of Elizabeth, Colorado.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Louise Huntington, Bonnie Hartley, and Esther Merring, and two brothers, Ronnie and Clarence Burgener.

A rosary will be held on Monday, Dec. 28, at 6 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, and a Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church.

Thompson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
