Funeral services for Lucy A. Harvey will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. at the Bicentennial Hall at the Park County Fairgrounds. A reception will follow at the Powell Senior Center at 248 N. Gilbert.

Lucy passed away on Sept. 21, 2015, surrounded by her family.

She was born on Dec. 1, 1929, in Red Lodge, Montana, to Frank A. and Beatrice Saysel Linn. Growing up in Red Lodge, she enjoyed spending time at her uncle’s zoo. Her family later moved to Powell, where she met Robert E. Harvey. Lucy married Robert on Sept. 12, 1946, wearing a wedding dress that she crafted from a silk parachute. Together they started a family and raised five wonderful children — Bill, Jim, Tim, Helen and Tammy.

Lucy’s marriage was not only the start of her family, but also her passion for creating. She was very talented and throughout her life became an expert in many crafts. She was a spinner, a weaver, a tatter of heritage lace, a knitter, a doll maker, an avid reader and a skilled debater. Lucy was also a wonderful teacher, always willing to share her craft and teach anyone who was interested.  Her grandchildren all have fond memories of spending time in her studio with her and learning to make beads and baskets, spin wool, or weave on the loom.

She was also an enthusiastic supporter of the Powell Senior Center. She served on the board of directors, organized activities, taught classes and enjoyed the company of her friends at the Center.

Her interests and talents were varied and she excelled in many areas, but above all, she was a loving mother, grandmother and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter Janet; son Bill; and brothers Frank “Buster” Lynn, Jimmy Linn, Thomas L. Linn and Alfred Wood.

She is survived by Simba “Precious” Harvey; son Jim Harvey and wife Debra of Casper; son Tim Harvey of Powell; daughter Helen Crain and husband Bob of Pampa, Texas; daughter Tammy Schalla and husband Rob of Bridger, Mont.; Chris and David Galindo of Powell; grandchildren Trevor Neumann and wife Haley, Briana Lucero and husband Gabe, Erin Harrell and husband Patrick, Lauren Harvey, Jake Crain, Lacy Braswell and husband Ryan, Caitlin Harvey, Robert Harvey, and David Galindo; great grandkids Kelsey, Lexi, Shaylee, Alana & Raif.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Powell Senior Center, 248 North Gilbert, Powell, WY, 82435.
