Sidney Brian Brown, 82, died quietly at the West Park Long Term Care Center in Cody on Sept. 11, 2015.

He was born on Sept. 15, 1932, in North Dakota to Lydia and Morris Brown.

Sid spent his youth in northeastern North Dakota and joined the Armed Forces for four years after graduating high school. When he came back, he got married and started a business installing milking machines called “Sid’s Surge Services.” His strong work ethic took his career to many places like Washington, Oregon and eventually to Cody. He managed an auto parts store, operated heavy equipment and even built custom bird houses that were sold in art galleries.

Moss never grew under Sid’s feet as he was always keeping things organized, which is a talent he perfected as a father of eight children.

Sid had a great sense of humor and loved having family around, although he did enjoy the solitude of an occasional trip to his favorite fishing hole. The natural surroundings of northwestern Wyoming proved to be the perfect setting for Sid’s retirement, as nothing made him happier than going for long drives to watch wildlife.

He and his wife, Arlyce (Nestegard), had four boys and four girls, and he is survived by Trudy Poley, Jody (Richard) Scott, Lynette (Brad) Sticka, Colette (J.J.) Schwindt, Jimmy (Kim) Brown, Kent Brown, Marc (Kathy) Brown and Jerry Brown. He is also survived by his sister, Judy (Frank) Everding and sister-in-law, Jackie (Kurt) Brown.

He had 11 grandchildren: Tim (Jessi) Poley, Amy (Luke) Skates, Brittany Scott, Candus (Andy) Armstrong, Tyler (Mallory) Sticka, Tim Sticka, Jeff (Amy) Campbell, J.B. (Emmy) Schwindt, Chris (Janna) Brown, Megan Brown, and Kara Brown. He also had eight great-grandchildren: Deacon and Ember Poley, Henslee Skates, Kendra Armstrong, Madeline and Hailey Brown, Brylee Campbell, Avalynne Schwindt.

A celebration of life will take place at the Long Term Care Center on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 9:30 a.m.

Ballard Funeral Home has handled the cremation services.
