Donald Sedwick

Donald Fay Sedwick died July 3, 2015, in Payson, Utah. He was 94.

Donald was born on June 21, 1921, in Powell to Henry H. Sedwick and Jennie Kilgore.

His grandparents, William Sedwick and Margaret Brooks, were among Powell Valley’s original pioneers arriving with their family in 1909.

Donald was born and raised on the original farm south of Powell. He attended Powell schools and graduated from Powell High School with the class of 1939.

He and Artelle Egan of Byron eloped in Red Lodge, Montana, on Oct. 19, 1939. The marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The couple was married for 75 years.

Donald farmed for many years in Powell and he and Artelle were custodians for the LDS Church for 31 years before retirement. The couple moved to Utah in 2014 to be close to many family members.

His loved ones appreciate the many friends and neighbors in Powell who were so kind to Donald and Artelle.

He is survived by his wife Artelle of Payson and one sister, Margaret Scranton of Powell and her son, Fran and Diana Scranton of Worland. He also is survived by his children, DeAnna and Jesse McGee of Spanish Fork Utah, Kerry and Svana Sedwick of Tempe, Arizona, and Elwin Sedwick of Salt Lake City, Utah.

Donald also had nine grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren and many other family members. Graveside services were held July 6 at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery, 420 S. 400 E., Spanish Fork, Utah.
