James E. McWilliam of Cody, died May 15, 2015, at West Park Long Term Care Center. He was 90.

He was born Aug. 10, 1924, in Cody, the only son of James (Scotty) McWilliam and Mary E. (Molly) Johnston McWilliam.

He attended rural school and graduated from Cody High School in 1942.

On Nov. 18, 1949, he married Esther Moller in Billings. Together, they farmed and ranched on Sage Creek. He was a lifetime member of the Park County Farm Bureau and served on the board of the Cody Canal Irrigation District.

He is survived by his daughter Karyl (Rick) Smiley of Cody; grandson Ryan Smiley of Kodiak, Alaska; granddaughter Kari (Riley) Fransen of Casper; grandson Kevin (Ashli) Smiley of Lander; and four great-grandchildren: Emily and Parker Fransen, and Corbin and Paxton Smiley. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law Pete (Lois) Moller and Fred (Joan) Moller, and sister-in-law Helen (Paul) Custer, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife in 2007.

Graveside services will be at Riverside Cemetery at 2 p.m. Friday, May 22. An online memorial is available at www.ballardfh.com.
