Clifford J. Steiner of Powell died March 20, 2015, at the Powell Valley Care Center. He was 85.

Clifford was born March 17, 1930, in Rock Island, Ill.

He served in the U.S. Navy submarine service and later worked as a telephone lineman.

On Sept. 28, 1952, Clifford married Jacqueline I. Scott in Honolulu.

The couple lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Clifford attended the Methodist church and was part of the Holland Club, Naval Club, and Shoshone Rock Club. He enjoyed woodworking, building clocks, wood carving and racing. He was a rockhound.

Clifford received awards for his service in the Korean War.

Clifford was a very loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife Jacqueline I. Steiner of Powell; son Scott (Marilyn) Steiner of Cody; brother David (Marilyn) Steiner of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; sister-in-law Nancy (George) Domer of Marion, Iowa; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Clifford’s granddaughter Ginny (Rusty) Nading provided help and loving care, as did his great-grandchildren Madilynne and Hunter Nading.

Clifford was preceded in death by his daughter Lynne Carr, parents Clifford and Daisy (Edwards) Steiner, and sister Diana Wells.

Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at United Methodist Church in Powell with Pastor Jim Barth officiating.
