Charles “Tucker” Leonard Fulton was born on March 19, 1948, to Dock and Dode Fulton in Powell. He grew up on the family farm on Heart Mountain with his four brothers and two sisters, just down the road from several Fulton cousins.
He wrestled for Powell High School, graduating in 1966. He went on to the University of Wyoming, finishing just shy of a degree in zoology before being drafted into the Army. He served one tour of duty in Saigon during the Vietnam War and then returned home to marry Barbara Bovee in 1973.
They settled down to farm on Heart Mountain and remained there until his sudden death on March 9, 2015.
Tucker and Barb raised four daughters together and taught their girls to irrigate, drive tractor and work hard, among many other things. They enjoyed their early mornings and evenings together out on the ditchbank after their daughters left home, even if it meant shoveling rows.
Tucker enjoyed hunting camp with his family, river and ice fishing with family and friends, checking out farm sales, and supporting wrestling for many years as a referee and spectator. The greatest joy he had was doting on his seven granddaughters, as well as any child who crossed his path. The coffee pot was always on for any of the many friends who happened to stop in. He loved to visit and tell stories, engaging anyone who had an afternoon to listen. While he loved a good joke, his retelling often fumbled, leading his children to refer to them as being “Tuckered.”
His “squeeze you skinny as a pencil” bear hugs, his infectious laugh, his twinkling eyes and mischievous grin leave warm memories to comfort the hearts of those who will miss him until the end of their days.
He valued honesty, good manners, friendliness, gentleness, giving others the benefit of the doubt, family, getting his hands dirty, hard work, and not complaining.
Loving husband, caring father, doting grandfather, beloved brother, attentive uncle and steadfast friend … all and more were Tucker.
Tucker's greatest joy was children. He loved his daughters, his nieces and nephews, neighbor kids, and especially his granddaughters.
Children were attracted to him his entire life, often quieting instantly in his arms. He was a gentle soul who believed in the death and resurrection of his Savior, Jesus Christ, and is greatly missed.
Tucker was preceded in death by his father, Dock Fulton and his niece, Marty Mooren.
Tucker is survived by his mother, Dode Fulton, of Powell; his wife of 41 years, Barb, of Powell; his daughters, Robin (Dr. Sam) Hoffmann of Sheridan, Katie Fulton of Powell, Dr. Erin (Ty) Pedersen of Cody, and Kelly (DJ) Mooneyhan of Sheridan; brothers Jake (Sharon) Fulton, Frog (Dorothy) Fulton, Pidge (Cindy) Fulton, all of Powell, Mike (Kim) Fulton of Billings, Mont.; sisters Linda (Dennis) Eden and Janet (Tim) Large of Powell as well as granddaughters Megan, Annie, Erin, Laurie, Larissa, Lydia, and Sadie; numerous adoring nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 14, at Union Presbyterian Church in Powell.
Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory was in charge of arrangements.
