Nevin Janssen died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, at the West Park Hospital Long Term Care Center. He was 90.
Nevin was born on Jan. 1, 1925, and was the youngest of three children born on the family farm near Elsie, Neb.
In March 1950, he married Helen Knutzen and shortly after began his 35-year career at Marathon Oil Company which included working many years in Oregon Basin.
Nevin loved the Cody country and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and playing cards with his buddies.
He spent many hours volunteering for the Cody Cupboard, served as a board member for the Park County Alliance for the Mentally Ill and was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Nevin was an extremely kind person with a quick smile and great sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Helen, his brother Walter and sister Mildred.
Nevin is survived by daughter Gina (Marc) Taggart, sons Gary Janssen, Mark Janssen and Chuck Whitney.
The funeral service was held Monday, March 2, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cody.
The family requests memorials be made in Nevin’s name to The Cody Cupboard and Spirit Mountain Hospice.
Ballard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
