Janice was born June 26, 1960, to Charles and Noretta Clayton in Hays, Kan.
A 1978 graduate of Wagoner High School in Oklahoma, she went on to receive her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Oklahoma State University. As a dedicated teacher for more than 20 years in Oklahoma’s Berryhill public schools, as well as in Odessa, Texas, Janice touched the lives of many people with her passion for education.
She dared to dream and her continued learning was evident in the many interests she pursued such as writing, photography, tutoring and motorcycles.
On Jan. 19, 2005, Janice married Brett Reel in Wagoner, Okla. During their marriage, they lived in Oklahoma, Texas, and Colorado with their dogs Pistol and Tex. The couple has family members in Powell.
Janice’s tenacious embrace of life helped her to make many new friends in each new location and it was in Colorado where her passion for photography grew.
Janice had the heart of a teacher and always went out of the way to help others. Her generous and giving spirit was demonstrated through her support of the Wounded Warrior Project. As much as she gave to others, her greatest devotion was to her family and friends. She will be remembered by those who knew her for her adventurous spirit, generous heart and take-charge attitude.
