Edith Ann Lawson Chaney, 80, died Dec. 14, 2014, of natural causes at the Elk Horn Long Term Facility in Montana. 

She was born to Charles and Emma Watts on April 4, 1934, in Lovell. 

Edith grew up in the Lovell and Byron area and graduated from Byron High School in 1953. She immediately started caring for elderly people in their homes in Powell and Cody and the surrounding areas.  

She married John H. Lawson and they had three children: Julia O’Neal (Dick), JC Lawson and Wyatt Lawson (Evelyn).

Edith was a loving sister, mother and friend to all that knew her. 

In addition to doing home health care, Edith worked in the Powell hospital and the Cody hospital, but her heart was with the families and elderly that wanted to remain in their homes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, eldest brother Earl Watts, her youngest brother Robert Watts, her son Wyatt Lawson, her granddaughter Kirstine Lawson and her grandson Reece Cape.

Edith is survived by her sister Veda of Worland; brother Richard (Harlene) Watts of Arizona, brother Carl (Liz) Watts of Byron, brother Ralph (Sandra) Watts of Iowa; daughter Julia O’Neal (Dick) and her son JC; grandchildren McKenzie Blare, Meghan Smith (JD), Korrin (Justin) and great-grandchildren, Alexis, Avery, Braxten, Tayler, Emma, Jade and Bret. Edith had many nephews and nieces and was loved by all.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, at the Presbyterian Church in Cody, with a reception to follow. For questions or information call, Julia at 406-422-3893.
