Lucille Van Dorn

Lucille Van Dorn, 97, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. She had received loving care at the Life Care Center of Casper for many years.

Lucille was born July 12, 1917, in Eminence, Mo., to Paul and Mattie Pankey Miller. Lucille’s family moved to the Craig, Colo., area shortly after her birth. 

She graduated from Craig High School. In 1947, Lucille married George Van Dorn of Craig. Lucille had three children from a previous marriage. Carl was born in 1950 and the family moved to Powell, residing there until 1966, when George, Lucille, and Carl moved to Casper. 

Lucille worked as a licensed practical nurse for many years in the Powell and Casper hospitals. She was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary, holding district and state offices. Lucille and George enjoyed traveling in their retired years and spent many winters in Yuma, Ariz.

She is survived by daughter Myrna (Bruce) Martin of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; sister Elizabeth Van Dorn of Craig, Colo.; daughter-in-law Gayle Van Dorn of Casper; and grandchildren Melvin Wren Jr., Rick Wren, Christine Harris, Mike Wren, David Wren, Debra Martin, Karmen Martin, Stephanie Jo, Traci Gilmore, Tasha Plew, Tamera Miller, Todd Wren, Ben Van Dorn, and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husband George Van Dorn; sons, Melvin Wren, Tom Wren and Carl Van Dorn; siblings Gloria, Jean, Elba, Wilson, Robert, Courtney, Maxine and George. 

No service will be held. Burial was at Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery in Casper.
