Jeanette Johnson died unexpectedly but peacefully at West Park Hospital on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014. She was 86.

Jeanette was born on June 16, 1928, the youngest child of Edward and Freda Simons in Crystal, N.D.

After her graduation from Cavalier High School in North Dakota, she moved to Hallock, Minn., to be a nanny to her sister’s children. There she met and married Lawrence Johnson on Nov. 5, 1950, and they began their life together on Larry’s family farm. They eventually settled in Marion, N.D., where they lived for almost 40 years.

Jeanette was a devoted wife and mother, a bookkeeper, an avid golfer and bridge player and was active in her church. They retired to Alamo, Texas, and later moved to Fargo, N.D., where they lived until Larry’s passing.

Jeanette moved to Cody in 2010 to be near family, where she continued to live until her death. She made and maintained relationships with her many lifelong friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Lawrence Johnson, her parents, her sister Genieve and her brother Donald.

She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her children Nancy Pedersen of Tucson, Ariz.; Kevin (Patty) Johnson of Cody; Karen (Randy) Peters of Guanacaste, Costa Rica and Michael Johnson of Lubbock, Texas; sister Elizabeth McAllen; brother Stanly (Carol) Simons; sister-in-law Sandra Johnson, brother-in-law Neal Johnson; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; her faithful dog Misha; and many longtime friends.

A celebration of Jeanette’s life was held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Sunday, Dec. 7, in Cody.
