Longtime Cody resident Harley William Fowler, 78, gave up the fight on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014. He died at Powell Valley Care Center.

Harley was born in 1936, to William (Bill) and Dorothy (Daugherty) Fowler in Riverton. He lived his early years in Rangely, Colo., moving to Cody with his mother in the late 1940s, where she worked as a waitress in several restaurants around town.

He attended Cody High School, where he met his one and only love, Margaret June Blake. They were married March 28, 1953, in Cody, and after a couple years on the road, made their home in Cody. He was employed by Ohio Oil Company, now Marathon Oil Company, in Oregon Basin until his retirement, working 35 years.

Harley was a lifetime member of the Elks Club. He loved to ski. He loved all things having to do with the Old West, visiting many ghost towns in Wyoming, Montana and Colorado. He was an avid collector of American Indian artifacts. He loved getting together with family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and will be greatly missed.

Harley was preceded in death by his mother, father, wife and grandson Dillon.

He is survived by two daughters Laurie (John) Heath and Cindy (Ron) Hess; grandsons Griffin (Ryan) Ballinger, Clayton (Stacy) Jackson, Jed (Kathy) Heath; granddaughter Lisa Jackson; great-grandsons Dillon, Daniel and Dawson Ballinger; great-granddaughters: Tegan and Tatum Jackson and Raven Heath.

Memorial services were held at Ballard Funeral Home on Wednesday, Nov. 5.
