Vern R. Steck, born in Powell on June 19, 1940, returned from his journeys and died, home again, in Powell on Oct. 10, 2014, at the age of 74.
He was the son of Dick W. and Afton Jones Steck.
Vern married Susan Jordan Steck on Dec. 23, 1995, also in Powell.
Vern was proud of being a produce man, a fisherman and a sober man. His favorite travels featured baseball tournaments or gambling. Activities including fishing, rafting and watching sports events with grandsons were a special treat for him.
He is survived by his father Dick (Shirley); wife Susan; children Troy (Renee), Lisa (Steve) and Kelly (Susan); brother-in-law David (Joy) and sister Jan (Bill). His grandchildren are Michaela, Aaron, Daniel, Ethan, Reese and Keaton. He also will be missed by many friends and other extended family.
Vern requested cremation with no services and his wishes are being honored. Memorials may be sent to Powell Valley Healthcare Hospice Services.
