Patricia Marion ‘Patty’ Anderson

Patricia Marion Anderson, 91, of Cody, died at West Park Hospital Long Term Care Center on Sept. 13, 2014.

Patty was born on Aug. 30, 1923, to Arthur and Florence Bimson in Douglas and was the youngest of four children. She was raised in Douglas and graduated from Converse County High School. She married Harold LeRoy Anderson in Nebraska on Aug. 30, 1941. From this union they were blessed with six daughters.

While in Douglas, Patty ran a babysitting and foster care business. In May 1969, she moved to Casper, where she continued her love for children by working at the Wyoming State Orphanage. Later, the orphanage became the State Youth Treatment Center, where Patty continued working until her retirement in 1988. After her retirement, she spent many years doing volunteer work at the Casper Senior Citizens Center.

Patty was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America and the First United Methodist Women’s Group and Bell Choir. She loved to play the piano, read and sew.

In 2002 Patty moved to Cody, to be closer to her daughters. She lived with her daughter Virginia until entering the Long Term Care Center in 2011.

She is survived by her six daughters, Barbara Stobart and Gretchen Ware, both of Lincoln, Neb.; Virginia (Doug) Weatherford of Cody; Kathryn Evans of South Charleston, W.Va., Carolyn (Richard) Metz of Cody; Rebecca (Samuel) Cull of Tampa, Fla; 18 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents, sister Ralphine Nauman, brothers Richard and Meredith Bimson, three sons-in-law, grandaughter Robyn Lynette, and great-great granddaughters Megan and Anaya.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at Ballard Funeral Home in Cody.
