Frances Loretta Brockes

Frances Loretta Brockes, 93, of Cody, died on Aug. 2, 2014, at West Park Hospital in Cody.

Frances was born Sept. 29, 1920, in Crete Ill., to Craig and Ida Brawner. Shortly thereafter her parents moved to Great Falls, Mont., and opened Craig’s Bakery.

Frances married John Thomas Brockes on June 9, 1942.

They had three children, John T. Brockes Jr., David M. Brockes and Marleah D. Lehman.

During the early years of her marriage she worked alongside her parents and her brothers at the bakery, while her husband was defending our country during WWII and Korea. When he returned home she resumed her role as homemaker.

After her children were raised she pursued her passion of painting. On Sept. 17, 2012, Frances and John moved to Cody to be closer to family during their later years.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents Craig and Ida Brawner, her brothers Craig and George Brawner, and her sister Ferol Lee Haupthman.

Frances is survived by her husband John T. Brockes of Cody, her children John T. Brockes Jr. of St. Petersburg, Fla., David and Melissa Brockes of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Marleah and Rocky Lehman of Cody; and her grandchildren MaryAnn and James Sturgell, David and Kim Brockes of Tampa, Fla., Shawna and  Jason Beekley of Fort Wayne, Ind., John R. Smith of Cody and Matthew C. Brockes of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; her seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Memorial services will be held at Ballard Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7.
