Rose Elizabeth Murphy Warner died on June 14, 2014, at the age of 93.

Rose was born on Sept. 5, 1920. She was the daughter of Homer Denis Murphy and Mary Mac Comstock Murphy, the third child born of eight.

Rose spent her early years working on the ranch in Routt County, Colo., helping tend livestock, running tractors and enjoying the outdoors.

As she got older, she spent time in Oklahoma with her aunt Margaret Murphy. After graduation from high school, she attended college in Greeley, Colo., and then returned to the Moffat/Routt County, Colo., areas and taught various grades of students in the public schools.

Rose married James S. Warner in 1946 and they moved to Blue Mountain, Colo., where four children (James Jr., Charles, Susan and Richard) were born to them. Rose managed a small grocery store and post office at Blue Mountain, while James worked as a deputy sheriff for Moffat County. In 1960, they moved the family to Rangely, where Rose worked for Chevron Oil as a bookkeeper and then for car dealerships as a bookkeeper.

After James’ death in 1970, Rose made her home in Craig, Colo., where she worked as a CPA and where she lived until her retirement. After retiring, and with her children grown, Rose moved to Powell to be close to her grandchildren.

Rose is survived by three of her children Charles (Kathleen) Warner of Fruita, Colo., Susan (Fred) Legler of Powell and Richard Warner of Fort Collins, Colo. She has six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, along with numerous nephews and nieces.

Rose requested that she be cremated, with her remains spread at a specific private location.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 20, at Living Hope Community Church, 305 S. Evarts St. in Powell.

Thompson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.thompsonfuneral.net or to P.O. Box 807 Powell, WY, 82435.
