Dixie Robertson Moody

Dixie R. Moody died at Rapid City Regional Hospital in South Dakota on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was 76.

Dixie was born on Dec. 11, 1937, in Lovell. She graduated Lovell High School in 1956, and then attended Parks Business School in Denver.

She married Ronald R. Moody on Nov. 22, 1957, in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Dixie and her family lived in Newcastle for the past 42 years. Dixie taught private piano lessons for approximately 45 years. She also was the ward music chairman, organist and choir director for 40 years at the LDS ward in Newcastle. She taught many girls how to conduct music in the church.  She was a devoted mother and wife. 

Her first love was her family and grandchildren. Dixie was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed quilting, crochet and knitting sweaters and making puppy quilts for her grandchildren. She had a knack of interior design of her home and was an excellent housekeeper. Dixie loved being outside planting flowers, gardening and adding beauty to her yard.

She is survived by her children and spouse: Dayna Riding of Kearns, Utah, Derek Moody of Ogden, Utah, Max Moody of Vernal, Utah, Jennifer Dursteler of Gillette, Rance Moody of North Salt Lake, Utah, and Ron Moody of Newcastle. 

She is also survived by four brothers, Jeff Robertson of Lovell, Rick Robertson of Worland, Lance Robertson of Idaho Falls, Idaho,  and Bruce Robertson of Laramie. 

Dixie was preceded in death by her parents Jessie and Preston Robertson and brother Phil Robertson.

A memorial service was held in Newcastle at the LDS church on May 16 and a graveside service in Lovell on May 19.
