Al Wrobleski died on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at his home in Byron. He was 86.

Al was born on May 8, 1927, to Alexander and Nellie Wrobleski in Chicago. He was the third child born to their union.

Al joined the Marine Corps on July 23, 1945, during WWII and was honorably discharged on Aug. 20, 1946.

He married the love of his life, Irene Rose Sulima, on March 31, 1951. They had just celebrated their 63rd anniversary.

Three children were born to their union, Lydia Velasquez, Pam (Joe) Mooney, and Debbie (Joe) Ontiveros. Al was the proud grandfather of Tina Castillo, Joey Mannion, Amanda Velasquez, Joe and Kimmy Mooney, Patricia Cerpa, John Filipek, and Joe, Christine, and Matthew Ontiveros. Al was also the great-grandfather of 21 and great-great grandfather of three.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Flo, and brother Wally.

Al loved bowling, hunting, fishing, and sitting in his “green chair” watching wrestling.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Burlington Community Church at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 20, with flag presentation by the United States Marine Corps.
