Barbara F. Kremer died Thursday, April 3, 2014, at the Billings Clinic in Billings, Mont. She was 85.

She was born on May 21, 1928, in Grass Range, Mont., to Florence (Welter) and Cecil Kauth.

She was raised and attended school in Winnett, Mont. She later attended high school at Fergus County High School and St. Leo’s High School in Lewistown, Mont., and graduated from St. Helen’s High School in Oregon. After graduating, Barbara taught ballroom dancing for the Arthur Murray Dance Company in Oregon.

On Oct 5, 1948, she married John I. Kremer in The Dalles, Ore. Five children were blessed to this union: Melanie (Ron) Ellis of Frannie, Kathie Gilmore of Lewistown, Colleen (Steve Nielson) Ninker of Cody, Jim Kremer of Lewistown and Robb (Joni) Kremer of Lewistown. Barbara was the proud grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Barb and her husband Jack owned and operated the Gold Bar in Lewistown for 27 years, which was a second home for many patrons and was the unofficial headquarters for the annual WIT Tournament. She belonged to the St. Francis Guild in Lewistown, was a Girl Scout leader and designed a new badge (Interior Design), was active in the Lewistown Parent Teachers Association and was a member of the Lewistown Park Board, and was proud to be a part of building the current swimming pool. Barb also enjoyed volunteering for many years at the Central Montana Museum and the Lewistown Art Center.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, John I. “Jack” Kremer; mother, Florence Wilson; father, Cecil Kauth; step-father, Harold Wilson; and granddaughter, Jaimi Lyn Olson.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the New Emergency Room Fund, Friends of the Pool, or to the charity of your choice.
