Frank Edward Shanafelt, 88, of Seguin, Texas, died March 27, 2014.
Frank was born in Stamford, Texas, to Ralph Otto and Bessie (Hackney) Shanafelt on June 13, 1925.
He worked in the oil and gas industry for many years in Texas, New Mexico, Wyoming, Utah and Colorado and retired in 1986. He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge in Wyoming.
Frank and Blanche moved to Seguin, Texas, in 1991. He was an active member of First Baptist Church there.
He enjoyed reading, playing 42 and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Ralph B. Shanafelt; and his sister Allene Parker.
Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Blanche Shanafelt; children, Larry Shanafelt, Allen (Lynne) Shanafelt and Janice (Kenny) Bowman; grandchildren, Sally (Dustin) Tolbert, Rachel Martinez, Caleb Shanafelt, Gabe (Jo Anna) Shanafelt, Genevieve (Brad) Lucas and Evie Bowman; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Harvey “Red” Rivers and his wife Pat, Milburn “Cotton” Rivers and wife Ann; sister-in-law Adele Shanafelt; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends. Funeral services took place on March 30 with Rev. Dr. Brice Mandaville and Howard Hudiburg officiating. Interment under the auspices of the Masonic Lodge followed at San Geronimo Cemetery in Seguin.
