(Aug. 18, 1942 - March 20, 2014)

William Alan “Bill” McGregor of Clark died March 20, 2014, at the Billings Clinic in Billings. He was 71.

Bill filled his life with family, hard work and a passion for the outdoors.

Bill was born Aug. 18, 1942, in Albuquerque, N.M., to Howard and Helen McGregor. The family moved to San Diego, where Bill grew up with his sisters, Betty, Judy and Kathy, who all hold him in loving memory as a “great brother.”

Immediately upon graduating from high school in 1960 Bill joined the Navy. He served three years active duty and three years inactive duty during which he trained as an electrician.

From 1966-74 Bill was employed by Production Avionics as an aircraft instrument mechanic at the Naval Air Rework Facility on North Island Coronado in San Diego Bay. Each mechanic owned his own tools, some of which Bill still proudly owned.

In 1974 Bill made a big change in his life and moved to Clark to work on a ranch owned by the family of his boyhood friends, Ernie and Tony Gordon.

Bill had a longtime love for water and land animals, evident by his time spent scuba diving, raising pigeons and working his horse, so he knew that ranch work and Clark were meant for him. Bill soon purchased his own property where he and his wife Cathy raised their sons, Corey and William.

Bill filled the land with plants and animals as he passed on his interests and skills to his family. He and his boys shared many hunting adventures in the Beartooths and fishing days on the Clarks Fork.

Throughout his 40 years in Wyoming, Bill worked various jobs, including ranching, construction, taxidermy and plumbing. He retired in 2006 after 17 years at Kincheloe Plumbing of Cody.

Bill spent his retirement comfortably at home with Cathy enjoying the family. He was always very proud of his son Will, his son Corey and Corey’s wife Tanya. Bill appreciated very much their loving care.

His family appreciates that Bill lived well, as it says in Ecclesiastes 3: “For everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven ... There is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live.”

Honoring Bill’s wishes, there will not be any services.

Memorial donations may be made in Bill’s name to: Wyoming Disabled Hunters, P.O. Box 2232, Cody, WY, 82414.
