Maxine Kirkenslager, 83, died March 7, 2014, at her home in Powell after a lengthy illness.

Maxine was born Sept. 11, 1930, in Lomax, Ill., to Margaret Pence and Max Baca. She married Richard Dean Kirkenslager Sept. 27, 1947, in Kahoka, Mo. They lived in Illinois and moved to Wyoming in 1952. Richard worked for Marathon and the couple lived in Thermopolis, Casper, and near Riverton. Maxine was a beautician and owned her own shop when they lived in Casper. She and Richard were snowbirds and enjoyed the winter months living in Yuma, Ariz.

Maxine was known for her cooking, gardening and flowers. She was involved in community service projects and was a den mother. She was a member of the Community Methodist Church in Thermopolis.

Maxine was preceded in death by her mother and father.

She is survived by her husband Richard; son Rick Kirkenslager of Powell; daughters Eula Kobielusz of Cody, Cindy Friesen of Rancho Mirage, Calif., and Tammy Kirkenslager of Las Vegas; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at First United Methodist Church in Powell with the Rev. Susan Adams-Trembath officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church or the Powell Senior Citizens Center.
