Ned G. Lieuallen

Ned G. Lieuallen of Fort Laramie died on Feb. 13, 2014. He was 82.

Ned was born Oct. 27, 1931, in Berthoud, Colo., to Beach and Bessie (Sloan) Lieuallen.

Ned grew up and attended school in Colorado and Wyoming. He graduated from Wheatland High School in May 1950. On Sept. 11, 1950, Ned joined the National Guard, where he served his country in the Korean War. He served in the 141st Tank Batallion and was promoted to tech sergeant in July 1951. He was honorably discharged from the National Guard in June 1952. For his service in Korea he was awarded with the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Overseas Bar and the United States Service Medal.

Ned was a true entrepreneur with a pioneer spirit. He was employed by the state of Wyoming as a brand inspector and also worked on the Wyoming Livestock and Sanitation Board. He owned and operated Lieuallen Trenching and owned and operated a local restaurant in Basin. He was always happiest when he was farming, riding horses and running cattle.

Ned is survived by his longtime companion Linda Dunn of Fort Laramie; children Mike Lieuallen of Sheridan, John (Billie) Lieuallen of Sheridan, Jesse Lieuallen of Dallas, Texas, Diane Lieuallen of Casper, Michele Lieuallen of Florence, Mont., and Shawn (Lynn) Young of Buffalo; his stepsons, Kit Moore of Thermopolis and Irvin Moore of Rock Springs; and Linda’s children, Robert (Amy) Dunn of Torrington and Linda Lee (Joe) Pokorski of Hot Springs, S.D.; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by too many close friends to name them all.
