He was born on Dec. 24, 1960, in Albuquerque, N.M., to Don and Belva Brooks. Darell had a tremendous respect and love for family and friends, and nature; he really enjoyed camping with his son Darell, who he had a very special bond with for 17 years. Friends and family knew they could find them at Eagle Creek Camp Ground whenever they were camping. He also enjoyed wildlife photography. Everyone who knew Darell has many good and unforgettable memories of him.
He is survived by his wife Jane; son Darell; mother Belva (John) Mulley; brothers Mike (Sue), Mitch (Beverly), Ron (Lora Lee), all residing in Cody; and sister Lisa DeBuff of Tomahawk, Wisc.
He was preceded in death by his father Don Brooks, brother Don Brooks II, grandma Velma and grandpa Ray Schuster, as well as numerous aunts and uncles.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at the Mountain View Community Church, 2926 Big Horn Ave., Cody, at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20.
