JoAnn Gormley died peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at Powell Valley Healthcare after a lengthy illness. She was 85.

JoAnn was born to Lyle and Irene Sheets on May 19, 1928, in Powell. She graduated from Powell High School in 1946. JoAnn married James L. Gormley on Sept. 18, 1946. To this union were born three children, Dennis R., R. Scott and Judy A.

They made their home in the Big Horn Basin and settled in Powell in 1961. JoAnn worked at First National Bank for 20 years, retiring in 1986.

JoAnn was very passionate about music, family, local sporting events, dancing, camping and the welfare of animals.  She had a very vibrant personality and her spirit and quick wit had a lasting influence on all who knew her. JoAnn will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband and dance partner Jim Gormley, parents Lyle and Irene Sheets, an infant brother Jackie, a special aunt Ruth Althoff and grandson-in-law Kyle Nix.

JoAnn is survived by her three children Denny (Laura) Gormley, Scott (Janice) Gormley and Judy (Danny) Walsh; grandchildren Kapi Nix, Keli (Jason) Borders, Tracy (Vicki) Walsh, Lesli Spencer, Christine Crosier and Mikey Gormley; 12 great-grandchildren; brother Lloyd (Hope) Sheets; and several special nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
