Jody Elizabeth Montgomery Vannoy

(Jan. 31, 1959 - Dec. 26, 2013)

Jody Elizabeth Montgomery Vannoy, 54, of Cody, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, naturally in her sleep.

She was born to the late Edward and Josephine Montgomery on Jan. 31, 1959, in Washington, D.C.

Jody graduated from the Notre Dame Academy in Middleburg, Va., in 1976. During her years in Virginia, she developed a strong devotion to horses and spent much of her time at the stables and racetrack.

Jody received a bachelor of arts degree in political science and then completed law school at the University of Wyoming in 1986, and she practiced law in the state of Wyoming until 2012. Alongside her work, Jody volunteered for many organizations, including the March of Dimes, throughout her life. She also participated as an active member at Christ Episcopal Church as a Sunday school teacher and later on as a lay reader.

Jody enjoyed leading pack trips into the mountains with her father. She also had a deep desire for knowledge and was often reading or exploring the world. She was a caring friend and a loving mother. She often said her greatest accomplishments were her two daughters.

Jody is survived by her two children, Emma and Scout Vannoy of Cody, and her brother and sister, Ross Montgomery and Adair Reed, of Florida.

Memorial donations can be made to Jody’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Christ Episcopal Church with a short reception to follow.
