Sharon Ann Mehalek Keele

Sharon Ann Mehalek Keele, of Powell, 67, died at her home on Nov. 22, 2013, with her husband Joseph at her side. Sharon and Joseph recently celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary.

She was born in Thermopolis on Aug. 16, 1946, to Dorothy Branscom Mehalek and John Albert Mehalek. Sharon and her twin sister Shirley joined two brothers and a sister. At a young age, Sharon and her family moved to Cody where she lived until 2012.

Sharon was a graduate of Cody High School.

She married Joseph E. Keele on Nov. 7, 1964. They had two sons, Chuck and Joe Jr.

Together, Joe and Sharon started Keele Sanitation in 1982. Sharon worked shoulder-to-shoulder with her husband and handled the bookkeeping duties until her health declined in 2007.

Sharon also worked at West Park Hospital for several years. She enjoyed her work there and cared greatly for all her patients.

Sharon was a devoted wife and mother, and also an accomplished artist. She and Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Sharon is survived by her husband Joseph; sons Chuck Keele and Joseph (Tammy) Keele Jr., both of Powell; granddaughter Alexa; brothers Jim Mehalek of Tucson, Ariz., and John Mehalek of Dahlgren, Ill.; half-sisters Karla and Karen; and many nieces and nephews. She also is survived by her three beloved dogs, Coco, Precious and Jody.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Shirley and Ruby Marie, and grandson James Keele.

Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, at the Cody Bible Church.
