Guadalupe (Gonzalez) Cortez, 71, of Powell, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at the Billings Clinic in Billings, Mont.
She was born Dec. 12, 1941, in Powell, to Encarnacion and Josefa Gonzalez. She married Mosies Cortez Jr. on July 12, 1959.
Lupe was an active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to shop, cook and spend time with her growing family.
Lupe is survived by her daughter Esther (Miguel) Jimenez of Aurora, Ill., son Mario (Sandra) Cortez of Sandwich, Ill., and seven grandchildren: Monica (Edgar) Ramirez, Patricia Jimenez, Erica (Tanner) Jirges, Jessica Cortez, Rebekah Gutierrez, Dianna Cortez and Daniel Cortez. She had four great-grandchildren: Natalee, Noah, Isabella and Luna. Guadalupe is also survived by her brother J.R. (Helen) Gonzalez, and sister Mary Josephine Gonzalez.
Lupe was preceded in death by her husband Mosies and her daughter Gloria.
Visitation was held on Sunday, Nov. 17, at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church. The funeral service followed Monday, Nov. 18, also at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church. Father Glen Whewell officiated at the services. Burial followed at Crown Hill Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory.
