Gerald Dee Johnson, 81, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at the Heritage Home in Bloomington, Ill.

Gerald was born Feb. 16, 1932, in Pleasant Hill, Ill., the only child of Raymond and Ora Johnson. He graduated from Powell High School in 1950.

Gerald married Irma Jean Baker in Powell on Dec. 21, 1950.

He farmed in the Powell area and after moving back to Illinois, he farmed in the Pittsfield, Ill., area. They moved to Mendon, Ill., where he worked for the Primrose Oil Company, Motorola and the Central Community School system. Then they moved to Eureka, Ill., where he worked for the Central Illinois Harvestore until retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Irma Jean, of the Heritage Home in Mt. Sterling, Ill.; five daughters, Nancy Bowen of Virginia, Ill,; LuAnna (Richard) Sidwell of Griggsville, Ill.; Connie (Don) Carter of Bloomington, Ill.; Juanita (Terry) Totsch of Liberty, Ill.; and Mary Jeannette (Dan) Miller of East Peoria, Ill.; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Arrangements are being handled by the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield, Ill. No public services or memorials are planned.
