Lola Virginia Caskey Frank died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at Powell Valley Care Center. She was 100.

Lola was born May 20, 1913, in Big Springs, Neb., to Daniel Earl and Alma Theressa Olson Caskey. She received her teaching degree at Hastings College in Nebraska and was a schoolteacher in a one-room school house in Nebraska for several years.

Lola married Ignatius John Frank on Dec. 27, 1938, in Julesburg, Colo. They moved to Denver in 1941 where Lola delivered flowers for a short time and then became a stay-at-home mom. In 1947 Lola and I.J. moved to Wyoming and were one of the first families to homestead at Heart Mountain.

Lola enjoyed the farm life — driving trucks, helping I.J., cooking, sewing, gardening and baking her famous fresh apple pie. She loved spending time with her family and entertaining at large family gatherings. Lola was always a good sport and she and I.J. traveled coast to coast in their RV. She watched I.J.’s beloved Denver Broncos and followed his Colorado Rockies during spring training in Arizona and Denver. She was a member of St. Barbara’s Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society at the church, the American Legion Auxiliary, Good Sam Club and Heart Mountain Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband I.J.; son Norm Frank; great-granddaughter Skylar King; two brothers; one sister and daughter-in-law Shirley Frank.

Lola is survived by son Ronn Frank of Fort Collins, Colo.; daughters LaVonne King of Powell and Carol Hart of Denver; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
