Rodney Paul Gibson, 70, of Sheridan, died Sept. 14, 2013, from natural causes.

Rodney was born April 4, 1943, in Powell to George and Leta Gibson. He completed high school in Powell.

He was not married, but had several girls he adored.

He worked for McDonald’s in Sheridan for 16 years and retired in 2008.

Rodney was an extraordinary person. He competed for years as a Special Olympic athlete, attended “Our Camp” for 33 years, loved to dance and loved George Strait. His smile was infectious, and those who had the privilege to know him are welcome to attend a celebration of his beautiful life.

Rodney is survived by his brother Greg and his sister Mary, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends in Sheridan.

A visitation will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, at Kane Funeral Home with services to follow at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at Kane Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Menschel officiating. The community is welcome to attend a balloon release later that day at the McDonald’s on North Main Street at 4 p.m.

Graveside Services for Rodney will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery in Powell on Monday, Sept. 23, at 4 p.m.

A memorial fund has been set up at Sunlight Federal Credit Union at 1447 Sugarland Drive, Sheridan, WY 82801. Proceeds to benefit Eagle Ridge Rehabilitative Services to assist our communities need to support persons with developmental disabilities.
