Richard Allen Hettinger

(Feb. 6, 1936 - Aug. 18, 2013)

Richard Allen Hettinger died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at the age of 77.

He grew up on a farm near Byron and lived most of his life in Lovell. Richard married the love of his life Lillian in August 1958. He worked for Montana-Dakota Utlities for 36 years.

Richard served on the town council and the chamber of commerce along with being president of the Lovell Volunteer Fire Department as well as holding several positions in St John’s Lutheran Church and Wyoming District Lutheran Laymen’s League.

He was generous to everyone who knew him and always had a smile while enjoying a cup of coffee. His grandchildren will always remember Grandpa coming to baseball, basketball, volleyball, wrestling, football, soccer and track events. He was their greatest supporter and if he could not attend, he waited for the phone call from them.

Richard is survived by his wife of 55 years Lillian; daughters Susan (Darell) Bohl, Annette (Lief) Welhaven; sons Justin and Bart; grandchildren Jason and Shyla Reed, Kelsey Bohl, Colton and Hope Welhaven and Madison Hettinger; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Sophie Harvey and Jake Hettinger; stepfather Clyde Harvey; mother-in-law and father-in-law John and Dorothea Fink.

Viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 20 E. 5th St. in Lovell.

Haskell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
