Lorraine Blaney, 86, of Cody, died Aug. 6, 2013, at West Park Hospital’s Long Term Care Center in Cody.

She was born in San Francisco on April 19, 1927, to Charles and Minnie Stacy. Lorraine married Richard Chandler Blaney of Boston, one day after returning from Guam in 1945.

They were married for 57 years and upon retirement traveled throughout the United States and Canada. They fell in love with Sandpoint, Idaho, and in 1989 they moved there from Watsonville, Calif. Richard died in October 2002. Lorraine relocated from Hope, Idaho, to Cody, to live with her daughter Linda in 2010.

Lorraine was an avid gardener and maintained an acre of beautiful trees and flowers. Travelers would often stop to take pictures of her beautifully kept gardens. She greatly enjoyed being with her friends and family.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband Richard.

She is survived by her daughters Linda Jolley of Cody and Joanne (Thompson) Vantine of Oroville, Calif.; grandchildren Rick (Shannon) Thomson, Jonathan (Tami) Jolley; and seven great-grandchildren: Kevin, Austin, Kristi, and Alicia Jolley of Sugarland, Texas and Makayla, Shelby, and Nico Thomson of Oroville, Calif.

Cremation has taken place, and Lorraine’s and Richard’s ashes will be spread over the Monarchs at Lake Ponderey in Hope, Idaho, on their anniversary on July 31, 2014.

Ballard Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
