Justin Joseph Tomisich died Saturday, June 8, 2013, at his residence in Powell. He was 53.

Justin was born Feb. 5, 1960, in Riverton to Mark Fuller and Virginia E. (Dewey) Stroup. He was later adopted by Nick Tomisich of Lander.

Justin graduated from Shoshoni High School in 1978. He was a member of the high school newspaper staff and traveled to Washington, D.C., for a National FFA Conference. His first jobs included working as a filling station attendant and being a radio announcer.

After high school, Justin attended a year of Bible school in Lafayette, La. Afterward he settled in Sheridan, where he married Leva Marie Shreve on Jan. 3, 1982. The couple then moved to Fort Myers, Fla., in 1984.

Justin loved gospel music and could often be heard singing his favorite hymns in his strong baritone voice. He had a heart for people and sought ways to help them. In Florida he was preparing for a career as an emergency medical technician and phlebotomist before back injuries prevented him from continuing.

He loved family and desired that the walls of distance and strained relationships would come down. So after 20 years of life on Florida’s Gulf Coast, Justin and Leva moved back to Wyoming in 2005. Leva said Justin was adventurous and that she never knew what each new day with him would bring.

An optimist in nature, Justin believed in the power of hope. He was certain that though things may look hopeless, one could be hopeful. Hence, one of his favorite Bible verses was Hebrews 6:19: “Never give up hope! Hope is your anchor that keeps you steady in the storms of life.”

In earlier days Justin was involved in an outreach to the poor in Fort Myers, Fla. There he was one of the administrators of a Rescue Mission and took food to the homeless and sang and preached the gospel. Most recently he became a board member of Hope House in Cody, where he had been learning the skills of independent living for the physically and mentally handicapped. His Godly example of Bible reading and prayer is a legacy to his family.

Justin is survived by his wife, Leva (Shreve) Tomisich; two sons, Nathanael (Amber) Tomisich and Samuel Marcus (Belinda) Tomisich; his parents, Mark Fuller and Virginia (Lee) Stroup; brother Burke (Cindy) Tomisich of Sheridan and Michael (Heidi) Tomisich of Alva, Fla.; sister Cristy Lopez of Powell; nieces Sara Tomisich, Brandi Tomisich, Samantha Tomisich, Aiesha Jaine Lopez and Cecelie Lopez: nephews Aaron Tomisich, Seth Tomisich and Alex Adorno; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents George Fuller and Pearl Fuller and maternal grandparents Howard and Marion (Otto) Dewey.

A memorial service for Justin was held on Wednesday, June 12, at New Life Church in Powell, with Pastor Tim Morrow officiating.
