Ruben Robles, 57, of Sunnyside, Wash., former Powell resident, husband, father and brother died on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Kadlec Medical Center in Washington.

Ruben was born March 13, 1956 in Mission, Texas to Englandtina and Jesus Robles. As an infant the family migrated to Powell, where he lived for 34 years. During those years, Ruben worked in the oil field industry in Wyoming, North Dakota, Montana and Denver, Colo. During his travels Ruben came to Washington, where he met the love of his life, Ilda Oritz. They were married in 1989. Ruben was the love of her life, her best friend and dancing partner.

Ruben enjoyed working on his 1949 Mercury, his 1956 Chevy, his yard and garden. He was a jack of all trades. His greatest enjoyment was his children. He was a very proud father, and loved them with all his heart. He was always there for them.

In his life, Ruben made many friends that became part of his family from working as a migrant farmworker and up until his last days of rough necking in Montana.

He is survived by his wife, Ilda Robles of Sunnyside, Wash.; his daughter, Cheyenne; four sons: Joshua, Ruben Jr., Thomas and Jacob; five brothers: Jesus (Gloria), Gabe, Ramiro (Antonia), Joe (Shannon) and Lupe; four sisters: Zoila, Amelia, Gloria and Nora (Brook); numerous nieces and nephews all over the world; great friend, Tony Gonzalez; Primo Chuy; and his special sisters.

Ruben was a strong and caring man. His presence will be greatly missed.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, May 23 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside.
