Frank Blevins, 86, of Powell, died at home surrounded by his loving family on the morning of May 5, 2013, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Frank was born Jan. 4, 1927 in Harrison, Ark., the fourth of seven children born to Elmer and Lexa Blevins.

Frank married Donna Marie Pannell, the love of his life, on Dec. 23, 1950. It was in Harrison that his three sons Jimmy, Doug and Bob were born. In 1966, while on a family vacation to Yellowstone Park, Frank fell in love with the Powell area and immediately moved his young family to Wyoming.

For 21 years, Frank worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Worland and Powell, retiring in 1988. Frank was a fishing and hunting enthusiast who appreciated what the surrounding area had to offer. However, Frank’s true passion was gardening — his flowers, fruit trees and vegetables were an immense source of enjoyment.

Frank was a longtime member of the First Southern Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a deacon for many years. Frank was devoted to family, loved the Lord and lived his faith daily.

Frank was preceded in death by his eldest son, Jimmy Blevins; sister, Faola Jackson; two brothers Milford and Kirby; and parents Elmer and Lexa Belvins.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Blevins; two sons Doug and Bob (Vickie) Blevins, all of Powell; and two grandchildren Alexa (Casey) Sheets of Cody and Kyle Blevins of Sidney, Mont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Frank never met a stranger. His fun-loving banter will be missed by both family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the First Southern Baptist Church on Thursday, May 9 at 1 p.m.

Thompson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and condolences may be sent to the family at www.thompsonfuneral.net or P.O. Box 807, Powell, WY 82435.
