Jerome “Jerry” Wester died Thursday, May 2, 2013. He was 84.

He was born June 3, 1928 in Glendive, Mont., to Swedish immigrant Eugene Wester and “German from Russia” immigrant Eva (Martin, Schloss) Wester.  Jerry attended Glendive schools, graduating from high school in 1946. He married Beverly Glasscock Sept. 23, 1950 and together they had seven children.

He was a true friend of the American farmer, passionate in his efforts to promote improved water distribution, water conservation and preservation of water rights.

The couple retired to Billings in 1993. Jerry’s beautiful gardens always produced bountiful vegetables which he happily shared with friends and neighbors. His other hobby was woodworking. His hand-crafted desktop watches are treasured by many.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; sons Bradley and infant, John; daughter, Karen Pollock; grandson, Philip Wester; all of his Schloss siblings: Rose, Marian, Ottilia, Anne, Johanna and John.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years; sons Gary (Marge), Tom (Sunee), Chuck (Karla); daughter, Peggy (Rod) Bremer; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandsons; and many nieces and nephews.
