Frances Evelyn Hopkin, 84, of Otto died Friday, April 26, 2013 at Powell Valley Hospital.

Frances was born Aug. 20, 1928 at home in Gould District, Big Horn County to John and Christina (Boelens) Snyder. She attended grade school in the old Gould school house, then attended and graduated from Greybull High School.

After graduation, Frances was employed at the Big Horn County Courthouse.

She married her eternal companion, John S. “Johnny” Hopkin March 12, 1947 in Billings. They were later sealed for time and eternity in the Ogden Temple in 1980.

Frances was a lifelong homemaker, as well as helping John farm. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After Johnny’s death, she went to work as custodian at the Otto school until its closure. She then worked at the Burlington school as a custodian until she retired. Frances loved her family and her “critters.” She also loved to garden.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1981, as well as her parents and numerous extended family.

Survivors include her sister, Thelma Kost of Powell; her two children, Eileen (Bill) Duncan of Basin and Linda (George) Marcus of Otto; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 4 at 11 a.m. at the Otto Cemetery with burial to follow.

There will be a viewing at Atwood Family Funeral Home, 419 West C Street in Basin, on Friday, May 3, from 5–7 p.m.
