Wayne Robert Lee, 63, of Cody, died peacefully in his sleep April 10, 2013 at his home.

Wayne was born in Chicago, Ill. on June 24, 1949, the oldest of four boys, to Ted and Jackie Lee.

The family moved to Cody in 1954 and from there to Worland where Wayne attended kindergarten. From there, the family moved to Laramie where Wayne spent his school years, graduating from Laramie High School in 1967. Wayne was very active in Boy Scouts and lacked one merit badge of becoming an Eagle Scout.

Wayne was a powerful swimmer excelling in the backstroke and breaking many state records. He attended the University of Wyoming on a swimming scholarship.

Wayne worked for many years for the Northern Gas Co. in Casper and raised his sons there and in Cody. He loved the outdoors and especially liked gathering diamond willows to use in craft work. He was very interested in Native American folklore and many of his crafts reflected this.

He is survived by his sons Leighton (Crystal) of Cody and Joshua of Portland, Ore.; grandsons Kaiden, Ethan and Bridger of Cody; brothers Greg (Shirlee) of Grand Junction, Colo., Scott of Powell and Mark of Delta, Colo.; parents Ted and Jackie Lee of Cody; many nieces and nephews; and best friend, Marla Lee.

Services will be held at Cody United Methodist Church, 1405 Beck Ave., on Wednesday, April 17 at 11 a.m.
