Charles William “Bob” Samsel of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Puerto Penasco, Mexico, died on Friday, April 12, 2013. He was 90.

Bob was born in Milwaukee, Wisc., to Charles and Angela Samsel. He enlisted in the Navy in WWII and served as a corpsman at Bethesda, Md.

Bob was a partner in Samsel’s Department Store in Powell, prior to moving to Scottsdale, Ariz.

He realized his dream of owning a beach house in Puerto Penasco, and was able to travel the world with his loving wife. The caring people of North Scottsdale Assisted Living and the Mesa Hospice Unit made his last days comfortable.

Bob is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jean; his daugher, Jeri Mathes; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Puerto Penasco. A memorial has been established at Rocky Point Animal Shelter (P.O. Box 1031, Lukeville, AZ 85341).

Jean: I send my sympathy. Think of you & Bob often, loved baby-sitting for you guys. I remember when my pies ran over, house smoked & Bob came running down the street to make sure we were okay - no fire!! Good old days, neat neighborhood.
