Darrell Ray Trembath

After a seven-year battle with cancer,  Darrell Ray Trembath died on Monday, April 1, 2013, at his home with his wife and family by his side. He was 72.

Darrell was born June 20, 1940 in Frederick, Colo., to Arnetta “Nettie” (Moeller) and Hugh Raymond Trembath.

He attended Technical College in Pine City, Minn., where he received gunsmith training.

Darrell proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953-58.

On Aug. 1, 1981, he married the love of his life, Susan L. Adams-Trembath, in Denver.

Throughout his life, Darrell lived in Colorado, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana and Wyoming.

He worked as a truck driver, mechanic, custodian, woodworker and gunsmith. He served as a firearm safety instructor, enjoyed restoring a Model T pickup truck and designed custom fishing rods.

Until Darrell’s illness required him to stop, he had a passion for woodworking especially gifting children with wooden treasures.  He enjoyed being a gunsmith, an avid hunter and fisherman. His constant building, creating, exploring, and enjoying the company of his own children, grandchildren and many other special little friends, filled his life.

Darrell was associated with First United Methodist Church in Powell, where his wife, Susan, is the pastor.

Darrell was there to help friends and neighbors with carpentry projects, mechanical repairs and all kinds of odd jobs.   Darrell’s love for family and friends, his kindness, generosity and humble service is his legacy on earth.   He touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother Hugh James Trembath; and sister Dessa (Paul) Pastore of Denver.

He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Susan; sons Darrell Trembath of Golden, Colo., David Trembath of Denver and John (Lianna Erickson) Trembath of Boise; daughter Amber (Dan) Boyte of Castle Rock, Colo.; brothers Ken (Linda) Trembath of Longmont, Colo. and Jim (Dee) Trembath of Erie, Colo.; sisters Susan (Robert) Thornton of Thornton, Colo., Carol Allen of Westminster, Colo., Cherry (Eugene) Mahalick of Firestone, Colo.; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 9 at First United Methodist Church in Powell.
