Lynn Wesley Fross died Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at his home in Powell. He was 85.

Lynn was born at home in Loupe City, Neb., Dec. 8, 1927 to Franklin C. and Minnie (Oltjenbruns) Fross. He was the seventh of nine children.

The family moved to Illinois in 1933 and lived there until his mother died in 1941. Lynn joined the Merchant Marines at the age of 16 and then joined the regular Navy at age 18. He spent time in the Pacific during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1947.

Lynn met and married Dorthy A. Wheeler in 1949. They farmed for two years in Illinois, then moved to Dubois in 1951. They had four sons, all born in Wyoming: Todd Jay (Pauline) Fross, Kurt Ray (Maren) Fross, Cole Bridger Fross, and Zane Lee (Ginger) Fross. Lynn farmed and ranched most of his life; he became a pilot in 1980 and retired in 1995.

He enjoyed woodworking and taking care of the lawn, garden and orchard. His greatest joy was making a house a home. Lynn loved his family, “each one,” and they were all precious to him. He attended Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Powell and his heart’s desire was for his whole family to accept Christ and follow him.

Lynn is survived by his wife of 63 years, his sons, daughters-in-law, nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, foster sons and foster daughter and numerous others who called him dad, uncle or grandpa.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 8 at the Assembly of God Church in Powell. Thompson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements and condolences may be sent to the family at www.thompsonfuneral.net or P.O. Box 807, Powell, WY 82435.
