Alma Jean “Cookie” Williams Seeley was born in Green River on March 16, 1934 to William Henry Lewis Williams and Ellen Ann “Lala” Sloan. She died at her home in the arms of the love of her life, Walter Duane Seeley, Sr., on Feb. 10, 2013. She was 78.

Cookie grew up in Green River and graduated from Lincoln High School in Green River.

Cookie married Walter Duane Seeley, Sr. on June 28, 1953 in the front yard of her parents’ home. She worked as a clerk, and then bookkeeper at Model’s Rexall Drug, Palmer’s Payless and Hill’s Payless Drug.

Cookie was a member of the Mansface Union Congregational Church. She was active in the lives of her family, loved her home and gardens and the history of her family.

Although Cookie’s life was complicated by many diseases and poor health throughout, she was a woman of strength and devotion that never allowed her disabilities to limit her lifestyle or role in her family, friendships or work. Her final years were burdened by Alzheimer’s disease. It quenched the strength and personality that the other conditions never slowed and she died of the complications of this disease.

Cookie is survived by her husband of 59 years, Walter D. Seeley, Sr. of Powell; her sons, Walter D. Seeley, Jr. and his wife Janet of Kemmerer and Timothy S. Seeley and wife Lynnae of Powell; five grandchildren: Jenny Henley and husband Cody of Green River, Jeffrey Seeley of Laramie, Sarah Register and husband Mat of Rock Springs, Kyle Seeley of Laramie, and Brandi Seeley of Powell.

Cookie was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ellen Williams, her sisters Colleen Savala and Jeanine Shoopman.

A memorial service in her honor will take place in Powell on Thursday, Feb. 14 at 10 a.m. at the St. John’s Episcopal Church, officiated by the Rev. Megan Nickles. The funeral service will be held in Green River on Friday, Feb. 15, at St. John’s Episcopal Church at 10 a.m. Interment will be at the Riverview Cemetery in Green River, and the Rev. Steve Aaron will be officiating.

Pallbearers are Walter D. Seeley, Jr., Timothy Seeley, Jeffrey Seeley, Kyle Seeley, Mat Register and Cody Henley. Honorary pallbearers are Deen Eskridge, Ron Modesitt, Bud Pauli, Harold Walker, Gerald Palmer and Lawrence Hill.
