Laura E. Cude, 49, formerly of Powell, died at her home Wednesday, Jan. 9 in Foresthill, Calif., after a lengthy illness. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister and friend to many.

Laura was born in Laramie in October 1963 to Walter and Lillian Carlson, joining three siblings. She traveled quite extensively in her younger years, due to being a member of a military family, but settled in Powell with her family for her high school years. She graduated from Powell High School in 1981. Laura then attended the University of Wyoming for a time, but decided to pursue other dreams, such as marrying Donald Cude, her longtime sweetheart for 26 years, as well as acquiring her nursing degree, which put her in the position of devoting most of her lifetime to caring for other people in need.

She always loved camping in the mountains with her family, taking vacations and always trying new recipes, using the Food Network channel as a guide.

Laura was preceded in death by her father, Walter G. Carlson.

She is survived by her mother, Lillian V. Carlson; husband Donald; two sons, Shawn and Kyle; brothers Walt Carlson Jr. and Eric Carlson; sister Marian (Carlson) Lambdin; not to mention numerous nieces and nephews; and last, but not least, her beloved dog and companion “Rallie.”

She will be missed dearly.

A memorial service was held at Calvary Church in Foresthill, Calif., on Monday, Jan. 14.
