He worked various jobs as a mechanic prior to working for Cody Tire Co., Celotex and later retiring from U.P.S. in 1998.
Rex was always an avid outdoorsman. Many family outings were spent in the Crandall, Sunlight and Beartooth areas. He was a hunting guide and through his years of guiding learned to know the area quite well and was always willing to share a story about his adventures. Later, he and Ann began a hobby of making deer haired jigs for the ice fishing season. Rex got a kick out of ice fishing on Buffalo Bill Reservoir; he always loved to say he out-fished his buddies.
He is survived by his wife Ann of Cody; daughters Debbie (Dan) Latimer of Cody, Suzette (Rod) Tripp of California, Patti (Jim Jr.) Umphlett of Cody, and Pam (Mike) Swaim of Michigan; nine grandchildren: Leslie Karlik, Lindsey (Joshua) Brice, Daniel Latimer all of Cody, Ben, Sara and Sam Tripp of California, Janelle (Zach) Paris of Laramie, Chris and Tayler Swaim of Michigan; two great-grandchildren: siblings Frieda (Don) Turley of Billings and Elaine (Roy) Rentz of Cody; and many nieces and nephews.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents Clyde L. and Viola Tryon; brothers Clyde R. and Tony Tryon; and sister Barbara Daly.
He will be greatly missed by many.
In memory of Rex, the family would like to offer an open reception at the home of Debbie and Dan Latimer: 236 No. 44th St. in Cody on Friday, Dec. 21 from 4-6 p.m.
