Matthew grew up in Moscow, Idaho, and moved to Minnesota with his father and brother at age 10. He grew up to be an avid sports fan and followed the teams from Seattle, even after moving to Minnesota. As a senior in high school, he decided to try out for the football team, and played through the pain of an entire season of defense for Park High School in Cottage Grove, Minn. Once enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, he switched to lacrosse, playing goalie and later midi, including a game at the Xcel Stadium.
Matthew was loved very much and is survived by his father Douglas (Kathy) Amos; mother Shelly; grandfather Bill Eaton; step-grandparents Joseph and Shirley Trost; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends from around the United States and Canada.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Georgette and Harold Amos of Moscow, Idaho; grandmother Sandi Eaton of Powell; and his beloved cats Ludwig and Luigi.
A memorial gathering was held Thursday, Dec. 6 in Cottage Grove, Minn.
