Arthur ‘Bud’ Edwin Cook

Arthur “Bud” Edwin Cook died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012. He was 80 years old.

Bud was born Dec. 5, 1931, in Yates Center, Kan., to John W. and Minnie Mae (Pyle) Cook. He attended school in Yates Center, Kan.

Bud came to Powell with the oil field. He married Marjorie E. Malliot on Dec. 24, 1951 and from their union five children were born and raised. Bud served in the Army Medical Corps as an ambulance driver. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Medical Badge AR 600-70. He was honorably discharged in 1960.

He retired from the oilfield in 1997. Bud was a member of the American Legion and the VFW clubs. Bud was preceded in death by his mother, father and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife Marjorie; five children, Colleen Riley of Powell, Randy E. Cook of Aiken, S.C., Donna Garland of Sheridan, Diane Marney of Sheridan and Amy McCaffrey of Richmond, Va.; brother John Cook; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m.

Family viewing will be Thursday, Dec. 6 from 7-8 p.m., and public viewing will be before services.

Pallbearers are Dan Keeler, Rob Marney, Taylor Riley, Jon Cook and James D. McCaffrey. Honorary pallbearers are Nathanial Lydie, Bryce Lydie, Andy Moore and Noah Nelson.
